A MAN has been found guilty of sexual assault and intentional strangulation of a teenager in Reading.
Adam Gerezgher, 28, of no fixed abode, has been found guilty by unanimous jury verdict of one count each of sexual assault, intentional strangulation and committing an offence with intent to commit a sexual offence after a week long trial at Reading Crown Court.
The incident happened at about 1am on October last year 8. The victim, a woman in her late teens, was walking along London Road when she was grabbed from behind by Gerezgher.

He put his arm around her neck and touched her chest inappropriately over her clothing.
The court heard that a member of the public who was walking home from Friar Street was able to intervene and ‘yank’ Gerezgher away from the woman.
When giving evidence, he said: “The man [caused her to fall], he was grabbing her and then she just ended up on the floor. She was screaming throughout.
“When I noticed I was worried that maybe this was a couple and it wasn’t an actual thing. So I decided to ask if everything was okay and at first I didn’t get a response and then the second time the woman was screaming ‘no’.
“I just wasn’t expecting something like that to actually be happening.”

The victim then ran towards Cemetery Junction while Gerezgher stared at the good Samaritan before running off in the other direction. The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, sustained minor injuries to her neck and face.
Gerezgher was subsequently arrested on October 18 and charged with the counts two days later by Thames Valley Police.
He is now due to appear at the same court for sentencing on May 10.
Investigating officer, detective constable Rachel Belsher, based at Reading police station, said: “I am pleased that Gerezgher has been convicted of these offences.
“I’d like to thank the victim for her bravery in coming forward and for her support throughout the investigation.
“I’d also like to thank the two members of the public who helped the victim, they may well have prevented this from being a more serious incident.

“Thames Valley Police take such reports seriously and will work tirelessly to bring offenders to justice.”
Gerezgher’s trial was briefly delayed last week due to issues over whether Gerezgher would be representing himself. It was his case that the pair had merely ‘bumped into each other’.
