A jury found him guilty of assaulting a girl under 13 by touching. He was found not guilty of the third count.
Opening the trial, prosecutor Brian Reece told the court that the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was 12 years old at the time of the incidents which occurred in Earley, Reading.
He said: “[McGlynn] was a very heavy drinker and was drinking a lot at the time. Count one and count two are the same incident, they represent the beginning and the end of the event that lasted about an hour in which the defendant kissed a 12-year-old girl and at one point picked her up and put her on the sofa and carried on sexually touching her.”

Before police became involved in the case, the defendant allegedly said he ‘couldn’t remember’ if he had touched the girl, adding that ‘it’s not the sort of thing he would have planned’.
McGlynn is due back in the same court for sentencing on April 28.
