A HOSPITAL in Reading is under ‘great pressure’ this morning after a power outage and flooding.
Royal Berkshire Hospital in London Road has reported an outage in the north block and the A&E department at about 9.30am due to flooding.
A spokesperson for the hospital has said that the A&E department is still open but people are being advised to use the NHS 111 phone number, the local pharmacy, or go to the walk-in centre in Broad Street.

Currently, ambulances are being directed to Wexham Park Hospital in Slough.
Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust posted on Facebook to warn people. It said: “We are under great pressure at the hospital this morning so please only attend if it is a life-threatening emergency like a suspected stroke, heart attack or severe bleeding. In other cases, please contact 111 or go to 111online for urgent matters.
The Urgent Care Centre in Broad Street Mall, Reading, opens at 8am today for minor illnesses and has walk in appointments until 8pm. your local pharmacists can also help.”

It is known how long it will take for the flooding to be controlled and for the power to be turned back on.
