Sir Alok Sharma’s jet-setting as a world leader has been further revealed as he travelled over 53,000 miles globally in just three months.
Sir Alok, the Conservative MP for Reading West has travelled extensively overseas as a leader in global efforts to try and limit climate change.
The Local Democracy Reporting Service has seen his travel itinerary for during Q3 of 2022, from July to September, the latest information available.
In that time, he visited nine countries, eight of which he flew to, and racked up approximately 53,756 air miles.
Sir Alok made the journeys in his previous role as the President of the COP26 Climate Change Conference that took place in Glasgow in November 2021.
Many of the visits involved Sir Alok lobbying government leaders of various countries to deliver on the commitments they made at the COP26 Conference which he hosted.
The first journey he made was to Ankara the capital of Turkey to visit senior government officials.
After that, Sir Alok took a mammoth trip to the Asia-Pacific region which saw him visit India, Australia, Fiji and New Zealand.
That tour of the region took place from July 20-30, 2022.

In Australia, Sir Alok spoke with the government of Australia, led by Anthony Albanese of the Labor Party, which took power following the elections held that year.
Sir Alok remained in the UK for the majority of August, setting off for Vietnam on August 27, 2022. He also visited Bali during that stint in the Asia-Pacific region.
After returning to the UK early in September, he then attended Africa Adaptation Summit in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, using the Eurostar train rather than a flight.
His final journey for Q3 was a round trip to New York to attend the United Nations General Assembly and New York Climate Week.
The 53,756 miles he did is an estimate from calculations from Air Miles Calculator.
Any flights to and from London are assumed to have taken place from Heathrow.
It’s also been guessed that Sir Alok had internal flights between Sydney and Canberra in Australia, Auckland and Wellington in New Zealand and Ho Chi Min City and Hanoi in Vietnam given some of the distances involved.
