ROYAL Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service promotes safety workshops in the wake of "devastating" supermarket fire.
Crews from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) were called to a blaze at Cmart Oriental Foods in Reading on Friday, May 26.
A total of 50 firefighters were on the scene for the fire that left the supermarket with "extensive damage".
Following the incident, RBFRS is promoting its free online safety workshops to help businesses understand their responsibilities for fire safety.
A statement from Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service said: “We are committed to working alongside local businesses to help improve your knowledge and levels of fire safety in our community and, in turn, collaboratively keep your residents, staff, clients and Royal Berkshire safer.
The sessions will be presented online via Microsoft Teams by qualified fire safety officers, and will last approximately 90 minutes.
The fire safety workshops will cover a range of topics including fire safety legislation, the need for fire risk assessment and the application of fire safety measures within your workplace.
Group manager for RBFRS, Rob Read, said: “Following the incident on Friar Street, Reading on Friday, 26 May, we would like to thank everyone for their patience and cooperation while emergency services dealt with the incident.”
