A POPULAR fast food chain in Reading town centre is set to reopen in August after a major refurbishment.
McDonald's, Friar Street, is currently closed for a two-month refurbishment, due to be complete by August 1.
The town centre store closed its doors on May 27, which coincided with businesses being forced to close after a devasting fire on May 26.
Residents have shared their confusion as to why surrounding businesses have reopened since the CMart fire, but McDonald's remains closed.
This is due to the fast food restaurant being refurbished, rather than affected by fire damage.
The two-month refurbishment is due to be complete on July 31, with the store reopening its doors on August 1, 2023.
The nearest McDonald's branches are in the Oracle shopping centre, Forbury Retail Park and on Oxford Road.
