AN ILLEGAL encampment has been moved on from the Caversham area after causing "significant distress and disruption".
The group were issued a notice under Section 60, an offence relating to residing on land without consent in or with a vehicle, on Saturday, June 24.
Thames Valley Police said the force had been made aware of "significant disruption" by locals.
Posting on social media, TVP Reading wrote: "Following reports of significant distress and disruption being caused in the area of Dumbarton Way in Caversham, Reading notice was served under Section 60c of the Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act 2022 on Saturday evening for an unauthorised encampment to leave the land on which they were residing.
"Our thanks to the local community for promptly reporting issues as they arose enabling a fully informed decision to be made around the use of our powers.
"The area has now been returned to normal and officers from #ReadingNHPT have been in the area today showing a presence."
