Shoppers are gearing up to see the opening of a new, bigger and better sports store in Reading town centre.
Signs were spotted by eagle–eyed residents on an empty shop unit signalling that the already established Sport’s Direct will be moving premises.
This comes after a planning application was submitted in May to Reading Borough Council for the well-known sports store to replace Clas Ohlson on 61-64 Broad Street.
The plans were submitted by the owners of Sports Direct for branding and advertising design to appear on the shop front.
I March, the retailer announced plans to focus on opening more larger stores, seeing some smaller business close or re-locate.
The Retail Gazette shared an elevation strategy where Sports Direct are looking to open more flagships stores in the UK and transferring existing staff.
