THOUSANDS of customers are currently without power after a major power cut in Woodley today (July 4).

An unplanned outage has left 1256 customers - 63 postcodes - in Woodley with out power during heavy rain.

Scottish and Southern Electricity were first notified of the outage at 4.34pm today.

The electricity board are hoping to have the power restored by 9pm tonight.

A notice on the SSEN site said: "We're sorry for the loss of supply. We currently have a fault affecting the areas listed.

"Our engineers are on site working hard to get the power back on as quickly as they can.
