Reading has ranked among the best solo staycation destinations in the UK.
According to Student Beans, Reading is the fifth best staycation destination for solo travellers in Britain.
The data rates locations on the number of "relaxing factors" per square km.
Student Beans carried out the research in the hopes of helping young Brits access solo travel on a budget after its recent survey found financial strains to be the biggest barrier for Gen Z’s with an interest in independent holidays.
The company found that Reading performed "particularly well" in the relaxing index due to its air quality, and number of spas and wellness centres and nature and parks per square km.
Ranked as the best solo destination, Reading was beaten by Perth.
The second best destination was Inverness and third best Southend-on-Sea.
Fourth was Glasgow, beating Reading to the post in fifth place.
Also in the top ten were Southampton, Norwich, Edinburgh, Dundee and Newcastle.
Student Beans predicts a rise in young people opting for solo stays this year, with 63 per cent currently looking for ways to budget for their summer vacation due to the cost of living crisis.
