A BUSY junction in Reading town centre will be closed for two weeks, from July 24, causing traffic delays and diversions in the town.
Repair works on the cobbled area outside Metro Bank and Caffe Nero, will see the full closure of the junction between St Mary's Butts, West Street and Oxford Road in Reading town.
The closure will be in place from Monday, July 24 to Monday, August 7.
Reading Buses has warned passengers that the roadworks will affect all routes that normally run through St Mary's Butts and Cheapside.
The Council will also be resurfacing a number of stretches of road around the junction. Two sections of St Mary’s Butts and a section of Oxford Road will be resurfaced during the two week closure.
Lead councillor for environmental services and community safety, Karen Rowland, said: "We recognise that repairs on the junction will cause disruption, but this is unavoidable as the section in question has become an increased risk for cyclists and motorbikes and needs to be repaired.
"We are however ensuring that we are maximising work in these closure times, using a joined up approach to additionally resurface parts of Oxford Road and St Mary’s Butts in parallel".
