A major high street brand is closing its store today (July 20) after passers-by spotted signs in the window.
Sports Direct, located on Broad Street, is spending its last day in the unit next to Barclays and Waterstones.
Tomorrow (July 21) a new store will be launching.
The larger store will be positioned between Halifax and Black Sheep.
Since the start of the week, a countdown has been spotted in the window of the current store.
House of Fraser Group, who owns Sports Direct, has been contacted for comment.
This comes after a planning application was submitted in May to Reading Borough Council for the well-known sports store to replace Clas Ohlson on 61-64 Broad Street.
The plans were submitted by the owners of Sports Direct for branding and advertising design to appear on the shop front.
In March, the retailer announced plans to focus on opening more larger stores, seeing some smaller business close or re-locate.
