TWO women who were followed home after Reading Festival have described the incident as being like a ‘horror film’.
A-20-year-old student, and her 19-year-old friend, were walking home from Maidenhead Train Station on Friday (August 25) after spending the day at the music event on Richfield Avenue.
However, they noticed two men were looking at them while they were walking in High Street before one of the men started to follow them.

“It was a shock really,” said said. “My friend turned around and saw him running towards us so we started running away.
“It was like a horror film, seeing them standing there at the top of the pavement in the dark.”
The student, who would prefer to stay anonymous, described the offender as wearing a disposable mask, carrying a bag, and wearing all black.
After he started following the women, they ran towards Maidenhead Police Station on Bridge Road but found the building was closed.
“We ran around the building and we weren’t sure if he ran towards us a bit more,” she said. “I think he gave up.
“But we rang 999 and kept looking around the building and couldn’t see him so I think he realised the police station was a deterrent.”

The pair were on the phone for 20 minutes but were told police were in Milton Keynes. Eventually, two officers came out of the station.
“They talked to us and made sure we were okay,” she said. “They said they will get a hold of CCTV but I think they might let it go.
“We’re not fussed about that, we just found it difficult that they were on the phone for so long and there were officers in the building.
“We were not disappointed, just felt so close but so far away – it’s odd.”
The pair, who are from Birmingham, were then driven to the student's grandparent's home by the officer.
She said: “It was more of a shock thinking about what could have happened, that’s what has upset and worried us.
“If we took a different route, or if the police station wasn’t there, it could have been a lot worse.
“I always look back when I’m walking and we thought there were two of us and we’re near the police station so it’s okay but I think we jinxed it - he just came out of the darkness and followed us.”

Despite the incident, the women enjoyed the festival and ‘made the most of it’.
“It didn’t ruin the weekend,” she concluded.
