A PETROL station will now be able to serve alcohol 24 hours a day.
The Shell garage in Oxford Road on the Norcot junction has been granted approval to sell the alcoholic drinks from Reading Borough Council.
But a number of conditions have been put in place. The garage is banned from selling super strength drinks such as Frosty Jacks cider and Tennent’s Super Strong Lager.
And at night, from 11pm to 5am purchases must be made through the night hatch, with the main doors being locked at these times.

Staff must operate a Challenge 25 age verification policy for alcohol sales at all times, as well as having complete training on security and refusal of service.
They must also keep a written record of sale refusals as a condition of the licence.
Meanwhile, bosses must ensure all sale areas are covered by CCTV.
No one objected to the licence application when it was made public in Spring.
The fuel station is used hundreds of drivers daily travelling between Tilehurst and Reading.
