Travellers who have pitched up at one of the biggest parks in Reading have been ordered to move on by the council.
An unauthorised encampment was established at Prospect Park in West Reading on Saturday, August 26.
Five or more campervans with towing vehicles have been spotted occupying part of the park.
The encampment is being treated as unauthorised and Reading Borough Council staff are working with Thames Valley Police to monitor the situation.
It is understood the people gained to the park access using an entrance from Honey End Lane in Tilehurst.
The council has issued the group with a ‘notice to quit’ or leave the land.
It is a criminal offence for anyone to occupy land they have been told to exit if a court order is in place.
Council officers are working with Thames Valley Police, whose officers are monitoring the encampment.
A council spokesperson said: “The encampments arrived at Prospect Park from Saturday, August 26, and officers visited the site on Tuesday to assess it and issue notice to quit the land.
“We are subsequently in communication with our Thames Valley Police partners who continue to monitor the situation.”
