SEVERAL people have been jailed across Berkshire in the month of August.

Appearing in Reading Crown Court, here are some of the defendants who have been sent behind bars last month:

A MAN who stabbed his ex-girlfriend’s father after planning to kill himself on her driveway has been jailed for eight years, with a three-year-extended licence.

Ben Donnelly, 29, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (August 18) for one count of wounding with intent and one count of possession of an offensive weapon.

He was found guilty at the same court on May 31 of the incident which happened on May 22 last year in Market Lane, Slough. He was acquitted of attempted murder.

AN arsonist has been jailed after setting alight to bins, wooden reels, a tree, cardboard and more causing £140k of damage.

Michael Britt, 54, previously of Pevensey Road, Slough was sentenced on Thursday (August 3) at Reading Crown Court to five years and one month in jail for 10 counts of arson and one count of possession of a controlled drug of class B, namely cannabis.

The court heard that Britt had been connected to several incidents of arson, including a fire outside Mr Cod in Farnham Road on April 16 last year.

A PAEDOPHILE has been handed a 20-year jail sentence after blackmailing a 13-year-old girl into sending him naked photographs and a 15-year-old girl into touching him.

Dean Yates, of Oxford Road, Reading, was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Monday (July 31) to nine charges: making an indecent photograph of a child, two counts of sexual activity with a 15-year-old girl, two counts of assault on a female, two counts of causing/inciting a 15-year-old girl into sexual activity, and two counts of causing a female to engage in sexual activity.

Judge Emma Nott sentenced the 34-year-old to a 20-year extended sentence with a 15-year custodial sentence due to the seriousness of the offences.

A MAN has been jailed for eight years after attempting to rape a foreign student in a Reading alleyway and then attempting to flee the country.

Sagar Gurung, 27, followed the complainant, who had only been in England for several months when the incident took place, back to her student accommodation in the early hours on November 6, 2022.

He sexually assaulted her and attempted to rape her before booking a one-way ticket to Hong Kong three days later in ‘attempts to flee justice’.

A MOTHER whose son was jailed for his involvement in the murder of Raheem Hanif has also been jailed for trying to protect him.

Bintu Conteh, 39, of Frilsham Road, Reading, was unanimously found guilty by a jury of one count of perverting the course of justice in a trial at Reading Crown Court, which concluded on 24 May.

Returning to the same court on Wednesday (August 2), Conteh was sentenced to eight months’ in jail.

Twenty-six-year-old Raheem was stabbed in the chest at about 6.55pm on Saturday, February 6, 2021 in Dulnan Close, Tilehurst.

Four people were jailed for his murder including Shekuh, who was 17 at the time. He was imprisoned for four years in prison for manslaughter and grievous bodily harm without intent.

Conteh made a false report to police regarding the robbery of a mobile phone in an attempt to prevent her son, Sheku, being implicated in Raheem’s death.

A PAEDOPHILE who was once jailed for attempted murder has been jailed a second time for raping a seven-year-old girl.

Attila Dombi, of Saffron Road, Bracknell, was found guilty after a trial at Reading Crown Court in June of several sex crimes against a child.

He was jailed for 18 years on Friday, August 8 by Judge Sarah Campbell with an extended licence period of five years.

When interviewed by police about why he had taken the indecent photographs, Dombi said he was ‘curious’.

A MAN has been jailed for over four years after being sentenced for drug supply offences.

At Reading Crown Court on Friday (August 17), Armando Kaci, 24, of Regent Street, Reading was sentenced to four years and six months’ imprisonment.

He previously pleaded guilty to being concerned in the supply of class A drugs and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.

A MAN has been jailed for six years and three months for the rape of a 14-year-old girl in Slough.

Keegan Edwards was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Friday (August 18) by Judge Kirsty Real for two counts of assault by penetration and one count of rape.

The 23-year-old pleaded guilty to one count of assault by penetration on the first day of his trial at the same court in April.

Sentencing, Judge Real said: “It will remain with [the victim] for the rest of her life. There is nothing that this court can do to turn back the clock and change what occurred.”
