A scheme for electric charging and a car wash at a petrol station has been aborted in the latest planning news this week.
The Motor Fuel Group, which runs a number of petrol stations in Reading, has withdrawn plans for electric charging and a car wash at one of its stations.
Meanwhile, progress is being made on the replacement of a pub with homes in Emmer Green.

Plan for fuel station withdrawn (230666)
The Motor Fuel Group has withdrawn its plan to establish seven electric vehicle charging points and a jet wash with four bays at its fuel station in Rose Kiln Lane.
The charging and jet wash area would have replaced a shrub and hedged area between the fuel station building and the Grosvenor Casino.
Commenting on the plan, a neighbour suggested that these facilities should be established on existing petrol station land instead.
Progress on homes that replace pub (231008)
Nascot Homes, which is building seven new houses in Surley Row, Emmer Green is making good progress on its project which replaces The Gardeners Arms, which was previously owned by Greene King.
Recently, the council’s planning department signed off on evidence Nascot Homes provided demonstrating that the new homes will comply with emissions targets.
Last November, councillors decided to name a small new road to serve the homes ‘The Gardeners’ in honour of the demolished pub.
The site will be made up of four semi-detached and three detached houses once the building is complete.
Garden fitness studio approved (230662)
The owner of a home in Priest Hill, Caversham has won permission to build a fitness studio in her garden.
Approval means a shed at the address can be replaced by a single-storey studio, which will be in operation from 6am-3pm Monday to Friday, 5pm-8pm in the evenings and 7am-11am on Saturdays, with Saturday use only being occasional.
In an assessment, planning officer Tom Bradfield judged that the studio would not result in any harm to the character and appearance of the area, neighbour’s living conditions, the road network or the biodiversity of the area.
Charity shopfront replacement plan withdrawn (231256)
The Cats Protection charity has withdrawn its plan for a new shopfront at its Tilehurst Triangle store.
The charity had applied to change the shopfront from its current multi-window paned front to two larger window panes, relocating the door from the right to the left, with the option to replace the existing roller shutters.
However, Cats Protection withdrew the plan earlier this month.
