Three courageous Reading women, all affected by cancer, walked the catwalk on September 9 for My Cancer My Choices charity. The sold-out fashion show took place at John Lewis in central Reading.

Patrycja, who was aided by the organisation during her diagnosis in 2022, strutted her stuff in several gorgeous outfits. Anne walked for her husband Dave, who is currently being supported by the charity. Jo also represented her partner Marco, who briefly joined her on stage to share his journey.

The charity runs on donations, and offers services such as acupuncture, massage, reflexology, and mindfulness courses. Each month, over 100 complementary therapies are given across the county.

Jo described the charity as “Our ‘safe space’. We can express our feelings and emotions without any fear or shame and know we’ll be understood.” The event welcomed over 100 supporters, and saw plenty of singing, dancing, and more than a few tears.

Co-founder of the charity Mandy Barter said: “Fundraising activities such as this are essential for small charities like ours. Thanks to John Lewis and Partners Reading, everyone who volunteered their time on Saturday, and the wonderful enthusiastic audience who helped make it an event to remember!”
