A petition has been released by Green Party councillors seeking action on one of the busiest roads in Reading.
Over the past few years, 11 incidents and two deaths have occurred on King's Road with the latest in a series of incidents happening on the stretch of road that leads to Cemetery Junction.
Thames Valley Police have released appeals following the incidents which usually happen near junctions and pedestrian crossings.
A spokesperson from Reading Borough Council said: “Along with TVP colleagues, the Council regularly reviews accident data along the Kings Road, and anywhere else in the borough where accidents have occurred.
"At this time, and based on historic police data, there is no evidence to suggest speed is a common contributing factor for incidents that have occurred on Kings Road. We will of course continue to analyse any available data to identify any additional measures which may be required.”
Councillor Dave McElroy for Redlands Ward said that councillors have been calling on the council to act on this for some time.
In the petition, the party said: "Kings Road up to and including Cemetery Junction has one of the worst accident records in Reading.
"Because of Reading College and the local schools, there are lots of young people and children in the area. Many accidents occur near the pedestrian crossings or with cars turning across bus lanes."
