Noticeboard for neighbours at Reading Co-op revealed

The East Reading Safer Neighbourhood Forum worked with Co-op staff to install a new noticeboard at the store in Erleigh Road.

The board contains information about changes in the community, contact details for councillors and notices about events.

There was an old noticeboard at the Co-op which has since been removed.

The East Reading Safer Neighbourhood Forum covers the Redlands and Park wards of the town.

It meets regularly to discuss community matters, crime and other problems in the area. It is attended by neighbours, councillors, officials and the police.

Residents are welcome to join, and can find out when and where meetings are held by viewing the board.

The board displays notices about community events, groups for adults and children and police and safety information.

Dave Dymond, a member of the group said: “We do our best to be parochial and local.”

The forum used to be Redlands Neighbourhood Action Group, (known as The NAG), which was coordinated by Thames Valley Police.

Meetings of the forum are administrated by police duty officer Justine Hester.

The Co-op store itself underwent an upgrade this summer, which led to it being closed for weeks, reopening on Friday, September 1.

The new noticeboard has been installed with the help of Mona Gill, the manager of the store.

Neighbours celebrated the re-installation of the noticeboard at the Co-op in Erleigh Road on Wednesday, October 25.
