Hundreds of Berkshire residents stepped out for Sue Ryder on Saturday October 21 for the charity’s annual walk under the stars to celebrate the memory of someone special.
Sue Ryder Starlight Hike Thames Valley saw around 400 people set off around the beautiful grounds of Pangbourne College on a 5k or 10k hike for the national healthcare charity.
The event is expected to raise over £40,000 to help Sue Ryder provide palliative care and create a future where everyone has access to support at the end of their life, or following a bereavement.
The night got going with all taking part in a warmup from Clubbercise, plus live music from the band One in the Chamber.
Walkers then headed out on the hike with many lighting up the night with their brightest outfits and glow-in-the dark accessories. Crossing the finish line, hikers were presented with a medal.
There was also an opportunity for participants to place a poignant dedication during the event in honour of someone special to them.
Head of Fundraising for Thames Valley Fern Pilutkiewicz said: “What an incredible evening! Thanks so much to everyone who took part.
“It was amazing to see everyone shining bright in dazzling outfits, celebrating the memory of their loved ones while helping to raise funds so that Sue Ryder continues to be there when it matters.”
