FROM an attempted murder to lit fireworks being thrown into shops, here is a round-up of court and crime stories across Berkshire this week:

FOUR boys have been throwing lit fireworks into shops in Reading.

One of the stores targeted, Chandni Kiosk, had a firework thrown in at about 3.15pm on Tuesday (November 7) causing the store and surrounding buildings to be evacuated.

The fire service attended to check the store and the staff were okay. There were no injuries.

THE sentencing of a man charged with intentional strangulation and beating has been postponed as he was not told about the hearing.

Rashad Salim, 35, was due to be sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (November 9).

He has been charged with one count of intentional strangulation of a man in Wokingham on January 27 this year, as well as one count of assault by beating and one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.

A MAN has been sentenced after shoplifting from three stores in the centre of Reading.

Jack Macklin targeted the Co-op store, London Road and Vision Express, Broad Street between October 11 and November 6 this year.

He also went equipped for theft and possessed a bladed article in a public place in Richfield Avenue.

A MAN has avoided jail after racially harassing a police officer and telling him to ‘go back to his own country’.

Anthony Evans was sentenced at Reading Crown Court on Thursday (November 9) for one count of racially aggravated harassment in Wraysbury.

The 50-year-old made racist marks to the officer on August 7, 2022 after his family called the police due to concerns about his ‘aggressive behaviour’.

While being arrested, Evans called the officer a ‘c***’ while making a reference to his skin colour before telling him to ‘go back to his own country’.

A MAN who attempted to murder his father after ‘God told him to do it’ has received a hospital order after being found not guilty by reason of insanity.

Ibtisam Thanvi stabbed Sameeul Thanvi in the neck and abdomen, causing the abdomen content to protrude out, on August 20, 2021 in Slough.

The 26-year-old had a diagnosis of paranoid schizophrenia at the time of the incident and was later arrested and detained under the Mental Health Act 1983, a trial at Reading Crown Court heard.
