With the news that Primark is coming to Newbury, many have taken to social media to express their views on the bargain clothes shop hitting the high street.
One user said that the shop’s opening is a “lovely idea! We need a store like that in Newbury it will be a change from charity shops and coffee shops.”
The budget fashion retailer, which has a head office in Reading, has set its sights on the former Debenham's unit in West Berkshire town's Parkway shopping district.
The plans have been made public after a developer acting on behalf of the chain submitted a planning application to West Berkshire Council. Read more here.
Many expressed their excitement about the new Primark shop, eager to add the store to their go-to list of shops in Newbury’s centre.
“Can’t wait, we definitely need one,” one user said. Others chimed in saying “Excellent,” “Finally!” and “About time.”
However, some commenters didn’t seem too excited about the prospect of a new Primark store.
One person said: “It’s going to be tiny so don’t think it’s anything to get too excited about.” Another wrote: “I shall waste no time in shopping there.”
In agreement with the previous comments, another user said “Terrible. Hate sitting in Primark watching people take hours to pick some pyjamas. It's 2023 Just order it online.”
