The top of One Station Hill where the fire took place presents a stark contrast to its lower half.
The windows are completely blackened, and you can easily see the bottom row of melted glass panels that were badly affected by the fire.
A single bollard sits at the top of Merchant’s Place, and fences block the end of the road leading onto Garrard Road, which is completely closed to public access.

The crowds, several roadblocks, police, ambulances, fire engines, and news cameras are completely gone. All that is left is the closure of Garrard Road and a forlorn, burned tower.
