A brand-new Aldi store in Reading has opened its doors to customers.
An opening ceremony saw the store open this morning (November 30) at 8am, with Team GB hockey hero Hollie Pearne Webb cutting the all-important red ribbon alongside pupils from Whitley Park Primary School.
The Gateway Retail Park store is the newest Aldi to open in Reading and will be run by Store Manager Graeme Milligan, along with a team of 28 colleagues from the local community.
During the shop launch, Team GB gold and bronze medallist Hollie Pearne Webb gave away complimentary bags of fresh fruit and vegetables from Aldi’s famous Super 6 range to the first 30 customers in the queue.
Hollie then attended an assembly for pupils at Whitley Park Primary School as part of the supermarket’s initiative, Get Set to Eat Fresh - which has already inspired over two million school children aged five to 14 years to learn more about the benefits of cooking fresh, healthy food with their families.
