A DRIVER has fled the scene of a hit and run after a man was struck by a car in Reading.

Thames Valley Police said the pedestrian was crossing the road near Palmer Park when he was hit by the car on Wokingham Road.

It happened about 6.55am on Friday, December 8, and the vehicle failed to stop at the scene.

The pedestrian was rushed to the Royal Berkshire Hospital for treatment and has since been discharged.

Police are calling for any witnesses to come forwards.

Investigating Officer PC Gareth Miles, from the Joint Operations Roads Policing Unit, said: “This incident has left a pedestrian with injuries requiring treatment in hospital. 

“We do not have any details for the car involved and would appeal to anybody that witnessed the incident to please get in touch.

“Also, if you were driving in the area around the time of the collision and have a dash-cam, or if you live nearby and have a CCTV camera or a video doorbell, I’d also ask that you check any recordings in case it has captured something that could assist us and get in touch if you have."
