With Christmas now over, many of us will have already taken our Christmas tree decorations down, or be in the process of doing so.

Reading Borough Council has launched a series of Christmas tree collection points across the town for those wishing to discard of their trees.

From Thursday, January 4 to January 26, 11 collection points will be operating where residents can get rid of their trees for free.

These include Mapledurham Playing Fields, Clayfield Copse, Hills Meadow, Rivermead Leisure Complex, Kensington Road Recreation Ground and Prospect Park.

Meadway Recreation Ground, Victoria Recreation Ground, Palmer Park Sports Stadium, Whitley Wood Recreation Ground and South Reading Leisure Centre will also be operating collection points.

It is advised not to leave your Christmas tree out with the bins as it will not be collected.

Individuals with green waste bins can chop their trees up and put them out as garden waste for collection.
