The owners of a takeaway in a busy area of West Reading have won permission to continue serving food until late at night.
Zaika The Paan Shop in Oxford Road is a takeaway that sells a wide range of hot food and treats including burgers, doner kebabs, curries, milkshakes and desserts.
Last autumn, husband and wife team Reeda Chaudhry and Mohammed Bilal Ahmed applied to sell food and soft drinks until 2am.
The application has since been granted by Reading Borough Council’s licensing department.
Although the permission allows sales until 2am a staff member said that the takeaway is currently closing at midnight Sunday to Thursday and 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.
The owners now have the freedom to open later if they choose.
Zaika The Paan Shop is primarily a takeaway, with the staff member saying that there is space for seven to eight people to eat inside.
Its food can be found on JustEat, Deliveroo and Uber Eats.

The business was established by Mr Ahmed who has 12 years of experience as a professional chef.
Mrs Chaudhry said: “The prices are very competitive, we are quite cheap and affordable compared to other places. The food is good, you can taste the quality.”
The application to sell food and hot drinks until 2am was approved by the council’s licensing department on November 18, 2023.
The premises, 431 Oxford Road, previously served as the shared site of Jango’s burgers, peri peri and shakes and Paanwala chai, shisha and street food according to street imagery from 2021.
Before that, it was the home of The Tasty Burger Co and the Maame Sika finger lickin’ kitchen.
