A ROAD remains closed nearly five months after a sinkhole opened up in Tilehurst.
The sinkhole caused a collapse in Oak Tree Road that meant the road had to be closed off near its junction with Chepstow Road, Armour Hill and Westwood Road.
Although neighbours are able to enter and exit their homes, drivers are unable to pass through the obstruction to make onward journeys further into Tilehurst.
The sinkhole appeared on Wednesday, August 23, 2023. According to roadworks site One.Network, the closure will remain in place until Friday, March 1.

A meeting is due to take place this week to inform neighbours about an upcoming project to fix the damage caused by the sinkhole and reopen the road.
Councillor Mark Keeping (Labour, Kentwood) said: “Remediation of the fault that has closed Oak Tree Road for so long will begin soon.
“You can come along and meet council officers, councillors and term consultants from Stantec who will be present to provide some engineering background and an update on the stabilisation works and programme, which will commence later this month.”
The meeting will be held from 12pm on Thursday, January 18.
