The owner of a popular fish and chip shop has expressed his sadness after the decision to close its doors this month.
Finn’s traditional fish and chips, located on Hatherley Road in East Reading, is a favourite among Reading residents in surrounding areas.
The Chronicle spoke to the owner, Jeff, after he announced that January 23 would be their last day in business.
He said: “After all the time and effort we have put into the business over the years, it is heart-breaking to close it. It’s like losing a little piece of myself in the process.
“We have been through a lot since we opened in 2015 especially during COVID and over the last few years.”
Finn’s announced that although they are devastated, the closure will allow them to move on to other ventures and endeavours that are on the horizon that have taken priority.
Residents across Reading have said that they are disappointed to hear about the closure of the fish and chip shop. It has been a popular establishment providing the ultimate comfort food. for all occasions.
Jeff added: “There will be quite a few devastated customers when they hear the news. People have come to rely on us for their Friday night treat.
“We, as a business, have got to know so many people from the local community and it will be sad to leave.”
The final day of trade at their Hatherley Road fish and chip shop took place on Tuesday, January 23.
They stated on their social media that they want to thank everyone for their support and custom and they hope to see everyone before they close their doors at the end of the month.
