A WORLD-leading oncologist in Reading has sent a touching message to King Charles following his cancer diagnosis.

Professor Karol Sikora, who established a private cancer treatment centre near Reading, expressed his support and well-wishes on social media.

He said: "Wishing the King well following his cancer diagnosis.

"I don't know specifics, but Proton Beam Therapy can be incredibly effective at treating issues around the prostate in certain patients - significantly reducing damage to healthy tissue.

"He has done a great service in openly discussing his diagnosis, it will no doubt encourage others to do the same.

"Awareness is absolutely vital.

"I hope he and his family are coping as well as possible."

The King has been diagnosed with an unspecified form of cancer.

Buckingham Palace said that during Charles’ recent procedure for a benign prostate enlargement a “separate issue of concern” was noted.

The Professor's own cancer centre currently remains closed since June 2022 due to financial complications.

The owners of Rutherford, Equitix, were forced to close all three facilities and services across the UK in June 2022 after financial difficulties during the pandemic.

Professor Sikora has since made it his ‘mission’ to get the centres open again, ensuring that people receive top diagnostic treatment for early detection.
