The Kings Head in Thatcham recently reopened with an entertainment-packed offering following a substantial £240,000 investment.
The refurbishment sees the pub benefit from a full interior refresh as well as a new outdoor bar and big-screen TV, perfect for enjoying all major televised sports events over the summer months.
The pub’s sports and community offering remains and its weekly darts team that meets on Monday and Wednesday evenings will be up and running again from next week.
Operator of the historic Kings Head and lifelong Thatcham resident Nicola Piper commented: “The Kings Head team is so excited to welcome back our locals as we reopen our doors.
"I’ve lived in Thatcham my whole life and know first-hand how invaluable The Kings Head is to the community.
"The investment has breathed new life into the venue and given us a fantastic outdoor area which we hope entices many new faces to the pub and helps us thrive for many more years to come!”
Following its reopening, the pub will also be hosting an entertainment-packed, weekend-long, launch party to officially welcome customers back to the venue.
The pub will be joined by local singers on Friday 23 and Sunday 25 February for music-filled celebrations and on Saturday 24 February, guests can look forward to getting into full party mode as the venue welcomes a singer, street entertainers, a disco and food van to the site.
The entertainment doesn’t stop there as The Kings Head is also launching an exciting weekly events agenda.
In addition to the new pool and darts teams, weekly staples include dog walks on Wednesday mornings, a quiz on Thursday evenings, and local acts performing over the weekend, every weekend!
In the coming months, Operator Nicola plans to launch family fun days and utilise the large outdoor area for promoting local live acts to raising funds for charity.
Guests are encouraged to keep an eye on the on-site advertisements as well as the pub’s Facebook page for further developments.
With a history dating back to the 1700s, The Kings Head is said to be one of the oldest pubs in Thatcham.
The pub was awarded a Blue Plaque to identify it as one of Britain’s first mail coaching inns for the Bristol to London route.
It is said that the very first Royal Mail coach changed its horses at the site in 1784.
