The local community have pulled together to raise funds to aid the family of a holidaymaker who was stabbed in a Reading nightclub.
Tharel Thompson is currently fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed in the head on the dancefloor of the Walkabout Bar in the early hours of Sunday, February 11.
The family of the Barbados National, who was on holiday visiting family in Reading, have been left with a £11,000 hospital bill.
Mr Thompson's mother, Yvonne Thompson, launched a GoFundMe yesterday asking for the public's help as costs continue to rise.
Since the fundraiser's launch 182 people have donated a total of £5,759, with the fundraiser's goal set at £15,000 to cover Mr Thompson's hospital costs and Mrs Thompson's stay in the UK after she dashed to the country to be with her son.
Since the stabbing last Sunday, Mr Thompson has undergone two rounds of major surgery but remains in a critical condition.
In the GoFundMe post, Mrs Thompson wrote: “So far his medical bill stands at £11,000 and is ongoing, I have flown over from Barbados and am incurring hotel costs daily and rising.
“Any help would be so much appreciated and this is my last resort.”

A man has since appeared in court charged with attempted murder over the stabbing.
