A Reading pub which is at the heart of an attempted murder investigation has announced that it will remain closed as enquiries continue.
Thames Valley Police rushed to the Walkabout pub near Friar Street at around 2 am on Sunday, February 11 to attend to a serious incident reported at the venue.
After initial investigations, it was reported that a Barbados national who was on holiday in Reading with his family had been stabbed in the head.
A 23-year-old man has been charged and a 25-year-old was arrested following the incident.
A spokesman from Walkabout said that they have been working closely with Thames Valley Police following the incident which took place on their premises.
The pub added: “We cannot comment further due to the ongoing police investigation and the bar will remain closed until the police have completed their enquiries.
“Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the young man currently in hospital, who we hope makes a full recovery.”
Well-wishers have left messages online for the man who remains in critical condition in hospital.
Following the launch of a GoFundMe appeal to help the family with hospital expenses, the victim has been named by his family as Tharel Thompson.
