Footasylum on Broad Street is closing for good with today February 27 being its final day of business.
Huge red sales posters currently adorn its display windows that read 'Closing Down Sale' and 'Extra 20% off.'
Dozens of shoppers have been filing through the doors since news broke of its closure to nab some last minute bargains.
The staff at the store confirmed Footasylum's imminent closure but did not disclose why the much loved addition to Broad Street is shutting for good.
"It wasn't our decision," they said. "We aren't sure what will happen to the staff in terms of being relocated. Today is the last day we are open."
This news comes as many shops in Reading town centre have sadly had to close up store.
Having just opened a year prior, the owner and staff at Genesis are deeply saddened to close their beloved crystal shop.
Speaking to store attendee Sehar Khan, she said that the rent for the store has increased so much that they had no option but to close.
"They increased the rent by fifty percent," she said. "It's so difficult for small independent businesses like ours."
Ms Khan said that they have had a huge reaction from the community, with many regulars coming in to express their condolences.
