A butchers shop in a vibrant area of Reading could start selling alcohol along with the meats and other products it sells.
The Rio Grande Meat Market has been trading for more than a year in Oxford Road selling Brazilian and Portuguese meats for home cooking.
The meat market is currently open from 9am to 8pm throughout the week, with closure at 4pm on Sundays.
Now its owners want to sell alcohol from 9am to 8pm each day.
Shop owner Amanda Menuzzo explained: “We are a Brazilian meat market and shop as well, we want to sell Brazilian and Portuguese beer, along with some traditional beers.”
Drinks she intends to sell include Super Bock, Sagres and more.

The meat market is located next to the Pharmacy at 276 Oxford Road.
The store was previously occupied by the Covered Pearls dress shop and by the Oxford Road Pharmacy itself for a time, until it moved into the larger premises next door.
For the Rio Grande Meat Market to sell alcohol, the owners need licensing consent from Reading Borough Council.
You can comment on the application by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses is Thursday, March 21.
