A bar in Reading is still closed with no reopening date being given after a serious incident happened last month.
Walkabout in the town centre is confirmed to remain shut after Tharel Thompson, a Barbados national who was visiting family in Reading, was stabbed in the head on the premises.
A spokesperson for Walkabout said “We have continued to work closely with police and local authorities throughout their investigation and our site closure period, and we plan to reopen the bar as soon as possible.
"The safety and wellbeing of our guests and teams remains a priority at Walkabout and we have put a number of enhanced safety measures in place to ensure we provide a safe and welcoming environment.”
Thames Valley Police rushed to the Walkabout pub near Friar Street at around 2 am on Sunday, February 11 to attend to a serious incident reported at the venue.
After initial investigations, it was reported that a Barbados national who was on holiday in Reading with his family had been stabbed in the head.
A 23-year-old man has been charged and a 25-year-old was arrested following the incident.
The victim of the stabbing Tharel Thompson remains in a critical condition.
