A cyclist in his forties has been hospitalised after a hit-and-run incident in Reading.
The incident occurred on Whitley Wood Road between the junctions of Hartland Road and Shinfield Road on Tuesday, March 19 between 9 am and 10:30 am.
The collision with the van caused the cyclist to crash into a lamppost where he was knocked unconscious and sustained injuries to his right hand and the right hand side of his chest.
Thames Valley Police are appealing for witnesses to this incident where the driver failed to stop following the collision.
Investigating officer PC Ben Taylor of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This is a very unusual incident in which the collision is suspected to have happened at some stage between 9am and 10.30am.
The victim called the ambulance service when he regained consciousness at 12 noon. No calls were made to police about the collision despite this being a well-travelled road.
PC Ben Taylor added: “I am appealing to anybody who believes that they witnessed this incident to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.
