Commuters have seen an influx of traffic over the next few days as further works have started on one of Reading’s most popular transport links.
Connecting the town centre to areas in West Berkshire, Bath Road is a well travelled road surrounded by residential areas.
During road works, often completed by Thames Water or Scottish and Southern Power, traffic management is often put in place as sections of the road are blocked off.
Bath Road currently has two areas where road works are taking place and causing a degree of heavier traffic.
Although both areas have been causing trouble during the drive to and from work, many have said that the traffic management at Castle Hill at the top of Bath Road is causing more delay to their journey time.
The Castle Hill traffic management (multi-way signals) was put in place on March 25 at 10:37 and works are expected to take place until March 28 at 11:59pm.
This is to allow for Thames Water to undertake work for nearby houses just off Bath Road.
Another area where delays can be expected on Bath Road is just off Hogarth Avenue near Pet’s Corner.
The traffic management in place includes the multi-way traffic lights and signals.
These works are being undertaken by Scottish and Southern Power Distribution. They started on March 11 and are expected to end on April 26 at 5pm.
All traffic management systems have been set up by Reading Borough Council.
