Changes have been made to a project for an arcade and family entertainment centre which is on its way to the heart of Reading town centre.
A company called FunBox Entertainment is set to take over two units of Broad Street Mall to open an arcade with a host of interactive games for people to enjoy.
The project, which involves melding the former New Look store and coronavirus vaccination centre into one unit, was approved last December.
However, FunBox has now revised its plans for what will be contained in the unit.
When plans were approved, the company released a design showing an area for ‘duckpin bowling’, which features smaller balls and pins than traditional bowling.
The four duckpin bowling rows have now been removed from the project, according to the latest design.
The area that it occupied would now be taken up by four air darts boards and four pool tables.
The detailed designs show where machines and games will be.
FunBox wants to add a range of games including air hockey, Mario Kart arcade machines, a VR gaming area, a basketball shootout game and more.
Once open, indicative visuals show the entertainment centre will be branded ‘Urban Fun’ which will face out onto Queens Walk, placed between Fountain House and Reading Biscuit Factory.

Bowling is already provided at Spinners Crazy Golf & Bowling, which currently occupies Broad Street Mall, and the upcoming Bowl Central venue that is taking over the old Dawson’s music shop at 65 Caversham Road.
