Hours for bar and shops in new Reading area agreed

A bar and shopping space have been created in Friar Street as part of the massive Station Hill redevelopment.

Earlier this year, it was announced that Berkshire brewery Siren Craft Brew will be taking over the bar, with the brewery gearing up to open in May.

Now, the opening hours for the bar and four other flexible cafes, eatery and shopping units that have been created have been determined.

According to approved hours, the Siren City Bar, the brewery’s flagship venue in Reading will be able to operate from 7am to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 7am to 1am on Fridays and Saturdays.

The space has been created as part of the Ebb & Flow phase of the Station Hill development, the first to be completed.

The name comes from the shape of the two buildings, with ‘Ebb’ being E-shaped and ‘Flow’ being F-shaped.

Other units created on the ground floor of Ebb, between Friar Street and Garrard Street, can stay open from 7am to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday, and 7am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

Meanwhile, two units in Flow will be able to open from 7am to 11pm Sunday to Thursday, and 7am to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

These operating hours were approved by Steve Vigar, Reading Borough Council’s planning applications team leader on April 15.
