A bubble tea shop has been slammed with a poor hygiene rating after its latest Food Standards Agency inspections.

Boba Blow on Erleigh Road failed to meet the expectations of the food hygiene watchdog.

A rating from zero to five is given to each establishment which is inspected and offers "snapshots" of the hygiene at an eating establishment.

The rating is given by the council who send inspectors unannounced to assess and rate the safety of the business.

They will look at the handling of food, how it is stored and prepared, the cleanliness of the facility and how it is managed.

Businesses with low ratings will be told to make improvements, with a timescale given to them by the inspector.

Boba Bloom was given a one-out-of-five rating after an inspection on March 20.

The shop scored 'Improvement necessary' for food handling but the cleanliness and condition of the facilities and buildings was 'generally satisfactory'.

Meanwhile 'major improvement' was needed for the management of the food safety. This includes systems and checks that should be in place to make sure the food sold or served is safe to eat.
