A Reading pub has announced that it will be re-opening this Summer after severe flooding forced it to close over the last three months.
Reading Railway Club has long stood at its Station Hill site, with current owner Lorelei Leaver taking over the venue in 2019.
On Wednesday, February 7, severe flooding in the men’s bathroom facilities forced owners to make the difficult decision to close its doors until the problem was resolved.
Following numerous meetings with National Rail, Thames Water, and The Arch Company, the pub is now ready to consider opening the facilities to the general public in the near future.
Owner, Lorelei Leaver said: “The drainage has temporarily been fixed so we are currently open for private events. In the next few months we are getting ready for the relaunch.
“At the minute, we are keeping our head above the water and my first priority is survival.”
The flooding in the Reading Railway Pub was proven to be because of outdated plumbing within the station which is connected to the drainage system that facilitates the Railway pub.
The pub owners have however voiced their concerns about further issues with plumbing as hundreds of new flats at Station Hill are constructed alongside office buildings.
