A long-running Chinese takeaway along a busy street in Reading wants to keep selling food into the early hours.
The Golden Rice Chinese takeaway in Whitley Street is currently open from 5pm to 11pm throughout the week, excluding Tuesdays, when it is closed.
Chefs in the kitchen currently serve up a range of noodle, rice and curry dishes, with a selection of meat, vegetarian and fish options.
Now its owners have applied to sell food until 1.30am each night.
To be able to sell food and soft drinks past 11pm, the owners need a premises licence application from Reading Borough Council.
A public consultation is being held on the application, which you can comment on by emailing licensing@reading.gov.uk.
The deadline for responses is Friday, May 31.
Whitley Street serves as the high street for the Katesgrove area, and is a hub of independent businesses including takeaways, hairdressers and convenience stores.
Relatively new additions to Whitley Street are Grilla Kitchen, which took over from the Cardamom Indian takeaway in June 2023, and the Turkish Halal Food Centre, which opened earlier this year.
