The body of a man has been located in the River Thames following an extensive search and rescue mission.

Officers began their search yesterday in the Caversham area when a 22-year-old man called Simeon was reported missing.

Although formal identification has yet to take place, police believe that this may be Simeon.

A spokesperson from Thames Valley Police said: “Simeon’s family have been made aware and are being offered support at this time.

“The man’s death is being treated as unexplained, but not suspicious, and a file will be prepared for the Berkshire coroner.”

Caversham Bridge was closed this afternoon as police were spotted lifting a body from the water.
