One lane was shut on the M4 between Junction 12 and Junction 13 westbound after reports of a vehicle on fire.
National Highways warned motorists of delays after a vehicle fire on Wednesday, May 29.
At 12:52pm National Highways said: "[There are] Long delays on approach with around five miles of congestion.
"Please allow extra time for your journey. Thank you for your patience."
Normal traffic resumed shortly before 2pm.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service were called to the scene at 11.16am.
Crews from Whitley Wood, Theale and Langley Fire Stations were sent to the scene, alongside an Officer.
A spokesperson for the fire service said: "On arrival, crews found a small vehicle on fire on the hard shoulder of the motorway. Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire.
"The crews were on scene for approximately 55 minutes."
