Dear Editor,
Why oh why in these times of austerity has Reading Borough Council decided to employ Counsel and take on the government over a decision to develop the site to the north of Reading station and the old Post Office site on Caversham Road.
The whole area has been blighted for some time and having watched with interest what the developers have proposed, they have come up with an excellent scheme which the Government has approved of.
It would be much better rather than the council grand-standing and wasting council taxpayers' money that they got busy with the developers to negotiate being 50 or 100 flats from the site which could be then used as Social Housing.
It is opportunities like these that will help the housing crisis in Reading, not wasting yet more of our money on a Court case that they are destined to lose.
