A Reading estate agent boss has raised over £15,000 for a leading bereavement charity after taking part in the Blenheim Palace triathlon.
The event took part on Saturday, June 1, and included a 750m swim, a 19.8km bike ride, and a 5.4 km run through the breathtaking grounds of Blenheim Palace.
Steve Woodford set the goal to push his limits and test his endurance whilst raising money for the Sue Ryder charity that helps families around the UK.
After months of training, the executive chairman completed the triathlon with an impressive time of two hours and 15 minutes.
Steve said: “I’d like to thank everyone who donated to my fundraising for Sue Ryder, a charity that is very close to my heart. I am relieved that months of training paid off and even happier to have raised triple the target I expected.
Sue Ryder is a well-known charity committed to helping and supporting people approaching the end of their life with palliative care, and providing support for their families.
He has reached out to people on his Just Giving page, explaining the challenge and the reason he has chosen to take it on.
He explained: “I’m not just doing it for myself. I’m dedicating this endeavour to support the incredible Sue Ryder charity. This local charity holds a special place in my heart as they have supported many of my friends and family, especially my mother more recently.
“So, by participating in this Triathlon, I aim to raise funds and awareness for their invaluable work in our community.”
On the day, the race village was buzzing with excitement, offering plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy.
With an original target of £5,000, Haslam’s executive chairman has raised over 200 percent more than he planned as he started this challenge.
Hundreds of people have reached out to show their support for his fundraising challenge.
Supporter, Karen Jones said: “Well done Steve, what an amazing achievement both the event and the fundraising!”
Another donator, Dan Buchanan added: “Brilliant to see the journey you have been on these past few months Steve. Thanks for all you do to support the people around you. Nice to be able to cheer you along this time! Enjoy it.”
