Thames Valley Police have released a statement after two boys were cleared of attempted murder over the stabbing of another youth in Caversham.
After 14 hours of deliberation last week (June 27), jurors at Reading Crown Court acquitted the pair on charges of attempted murder and wounding with intent.
The 17-year-olds - who cannot be named for legal reasons - were standing trial over an incident on August 9, 2023.
A police spokesperson said: "At around 12.50am on August 9 last year, the force received a report of an altercation in Hemdean Road, Caversham.
"The force then received a further report that a boy in his teens had presented at hospital with three stab wounds.
"He was treated for potentially life-threatening injuries at hospital, but has since been discharged."
The spokesperson added: "There will be a retrial for one of the defendants on one count of Section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent on a date to be confirmed."
