Woodley's local police force, known as The Woodley Team, are increasing patrols to boost community safety and combat anti-social behaviour.

The squad, based at The Oakwood Centre on Headley Road, includes a variety of officers and Police Community Support Officer’s. This includes PCs Stone, Clifton, Bogdanova, and community support officers Towse and Hobart.

Performing daily patrols in areas such as Woodford Park and the Woodley Precinct, their mission is to ensure the locality remains a safe space for all.

The team's presence, particularly during school hours, is intended to reassure residents and maintain a high level of visibility.

PC Stone said: "We have targeted operations organised to tackle the anti-social behaviour, E-Scooters, E-Bikes and drug use in and around Woodley.

"Dates will not be issued until after the operations have been complete."

The dedicated team is also available for school talks, care home visits, and general advice.

They can be contacted via their email WokinghamNHPT@thamesvalley.police.uk.

Any concerns about the local area can be registered through telephone number 101 or via an online submission form.

However, the Woodley Team also clarified certain issues are beyond their remit.

PC Stone expanded: "Everyone would love more police officers and PCSO’s, including ourselves, this is not something we can promise or provide as we do not get involved in the recruitment side of the police force."

Additional problems like fly-tipping and pot-holes, while concerning, fall under the jurisdiction of Wokingham Council rather than the police.

Meanwhile, requirements for CCTV cameras in communal living areas should be directed towards housing providers.

In private residences, installation would have to be arranged by the property owner.

The team have asked members of the Woodley community and residents to fill out a survey in order to improve their presence and work across the area.

Questions that they would like answered include: What you would personally like to see from your neighbourhood policing team and what you believe your community could benefit from, from your neighbourhood policing team.

This will allow Thames Valley Police to deploy the correct resources across Woodley.

The force added: “Sign up to Thames Valley Alerts which will give you safety advice in and around the neighbourhood, if you go on holiday or leave your house empty for a while, or updates about what is going on in your area; https://orlo.uk/KKETJ

“Thank you for all the responses that are positive and that have thanked us for the work we are doing. We appreciate this a lot.”
